Trump Rejects Health Rumors as ‘Fake,’ Cites Active Weekend

Washington – U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday refuted social media claims about his declining health, labeling them as false and highlighting his busy schedule over the Labor Day weekend. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump emphasized his active engagements, which included media interviews and a visit to his Virginia golf club. “I was very active over the weekend,” he stated, dismissing the rumors as “fake” when questioned about their origin, according to Reuters.
The speculation about Trump’s health intensified on the social media platform X, fueled by his lack of public appearances late last week and a USA Today interview with Vice President JD Vance. In the interview, Vance expressed confidence in Trump’s condition but noted his readiness to assume the presidency if necessary. Trump, who at 79 became the oldest person to assume the U.S. presidency in January, has faced scrutiny over his health since earlier this year.
In July, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt addressed concerns after photos revealed swelling in Trump’s lower legs and bruising on his right hand, partially concealed by makeup. Trump’s physician, Dr. Sean Barbabella, explained in a White House letter that the leg swelling stemmed from chronic venous insufficiency, a common and benign condition prevalent among those over 70. The bruising on Trump’s hand was attributed to minor soft tissue irritation caused by frequent handshaking and his use of aspirin, part of a standard cardiovascular prevention regimen, Reuters reported.
The White House has consistently downplayed health concerns, asserting that Trump manages the leg condition effectively without specifying treatment details. Trump’s team continues to emphasize his vigor, countering online narratives that escalated with hashtags like #TrumpIsDead, which gained traction despite his active Truth Social posts and a golf outing photo shared over the weekend.
