Child Slips Through White House Fence, Quickly Intercepted by Secret Service

Washington DC: On Wednesday, March 27, a young child slipped through the fencing encircling the White House in Washington but was promptly intercepted by Secret Service agents. The incident unfolded around 6:30 pm local time on the North Lawn, approximately an hour after President Donald Trump addressed the nation from the Oval Office, announcing proposed tariffs on the auto industry, according to Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi.

In a statement shared via social media, Guglielmi confirmed that agents swiftly reunited the child with their parents, resolving the situation without any trouble. Video evidence circulating on social media captured an armed Secret Service officer carrying the child—dressed in a blue hooded sweatshirt—across the lawn before transferring them to another agent.

This breach echoes a similar event from April 2023, when another toddler squeezed through the metal fencing on the North Lawn. That child was also safely returned to their parents after authorities briefly questioned them.

The Associated Press (AP) first reported the March 27 incident, highlighting the recurring challenge of securing the White House perimeter against such unintentional intrusions.
