Modi Highlights BJP’s Governance Success on Party’s Foundation Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) foundation day on Sunday by emphasizing that the public recognizes the party’s commitment to good governance, a sentiment mirrored in the unprecedented electoral victories it has secured over the years. In a series of posts on X, Modi extended his greetings to BJP workers, or “karyakartas,” acknowledging their decades-long efforts to bolster the party.

“On this significant day, we reaffirm our steadfast dedication to advancing India’s progress and fulfilling the vision of a developed nation, or Viksit Bharat,” Modi stated. He pointed to the party’s strong performance in past Lok Sabha elections, state assembly polls, and local body contests as evidence of public support for its governance agenda.

Modi assured that BJP-led governments would persist in prioritizing societal welfare and comprehensive development. He also praised the tireless efforts of the party’s grassroots workers, describing them as the backbone of the organization. “I take pride in how our karyakartas work relentlessly across the country, serving the poor, downtrodden, and marginalized,” he said, noting that their vigor and dedication remain a source of inspiration.

The BJP traces its origins to 1980, when leaders of the former Bharatiya Jana Sangh, which had previously merged into the Janata Party to challenge Congress in the 1977 post-Emergency elections, established the party. Initially, the BJP secured just two Lok Sabha seats in the 1984 general election. However, under the stewardship of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L.K. Advani, it gained momentum, eventually leading a coalition government in the 1990s. The party achieved a historic milestone in 2014 when Modi guided it to a full majority, a feat it has maintained at the national level since.
