New Delhi: Amid continuing tensions in West Asia linked to the conflict involving Iran, several Indian airlines have announced special flight operations to help passengers travelling between India and key Middle Eastern destinations. The measures come as airlines adapt to airspace restrictions and operational disruptions across the region.
According to a report, airlines including Air India, Air India Express and IndiGo are working to maintain connectivity between India and major Gulf hubs while ensuring passenger safety. The carriers have introduced a number of additional or special flights to cities across the Middle East, including destinations in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait, as well as Tel Aviv.
The additional services are intended to support travellers who were affected after several flights were cancelled or rescheduled due to the evolving security situation in the region. Airlines said they are closely monitoring developments and coordinating with authorities to operate flights based on available airspace permissions and safety assessments.
Reports indicate that Air India and Air India Express have scheduled multiple services connecting Indian cities with Gulf destinations, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi and other airports in the UAE. These include several non-scheduled flights introduced to accommodate stranded passengers and manage the surge in demand for travel.
IndiGo has also planned a series of relief operations to maintain connectivity and assist travellers impacted by the disruptions. The airline earlier operated special flights from Jeddah in Saudi Arabia to bring back passengers who were unable to travel due to the conflict-related disruptions.
Airlines have advised passengers to check the latest flight status before heading to airports, as schedules may change depending on evolving conditions in the Middle East. Authorities and carriers continue to monitor the situation closely while prioritising passenger safety and operational stability.
