4.3 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Pakistan, No Casualties Reported

A 4.3 magnitude earthquake jolted Pakistan in the early hours of Wednesday, sending tremors across multiple regions. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) recorded the quake at approximately 2:58 a.m. IST. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) pinpointed the epicenter 65 kilometers east-southeast of Uthal in Balochistan, at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers.

This marks Pakistan’s third seismic event of 2023. On February 28, a 4.5 magnitude quake rattled the country, with its epicenter located within Pakistan’s borders. Earlier, on February 16, tremors emanated from an epicenter 8 kilometers southeast of Rawalpindi, at a depth of 17 kilometers, also reaching Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

No injuries or deaths have been reported from this latest quake, offering relief to authorities and residents. The event coincides with a wave of global seismic activity. Just last week, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake devastated Myanmar, claiming over 2,700 lives and injuring thousands. Its effects rippled from Bangkok to India, where a building collapse in Bangkok killed at least 30 people. Relief operations continue in the hardest-hit areas.
