West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Monday announced that the state government will implement the Ayushman Bharat scheme along with several major welfare programmes introduced by the Central government. The decision was taken during the first cabinet meeting of the newly formed BJP-led administration held at Nabanna in Kolkata.
According to ANI, the Chief Minister stated that the state government has already started the process of introducing schemes such as Jan Arogya Yojana, Krishak Bima Yojana, PM SHRI, Vishwakarma Scheme, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, and Ujjwala Yojana across West Bengal. He said the government aims to ensure that residents of the state receive benefits similar to those available in other BJP-ruled states under the “double-engine government” model.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Adhikari said the new government is committed to improving governance, strengthening security, and accelerating development in the state. He also reiterated the administration’s dedication to the constitutional values and ideals of Dr B.R. Ambedkar, emphasising governance that works in the interest of the people.
Reports also indicated that the cabinet discussed several administrative reforms and initiatives aimed at improving coordination with the Central government. The meeting marked the beginning of policy decisions under the BJP government after the party formed its first government in West Bengal.
ANI reported that the implementation of Ayushman Bharat and other welfare programmes is expected to begin soon as part of the government’s broader development agenda for the state.
