Vir Das Alleges Zepto Delivered Fake Apple Watch Worth ₹50,000, Calls It a ‘Full Scam’

Mumbai: Actor and comedian Vir Das has publicly criticised quick-commerce platform Zepto after allegedly receiving a counterfeit Apple Watch despite paying close to ₹50,000 for the device. The incident was first reported by The Times of India. However, later he updated the post by saying now he has been delivered with the original watch.

Vir Das Shares Frustration on Social Media

Vir Das took to social media to express his disappointment over the order, claiming the smartwatch delivered to him appeared to be a fake version of an Apple Watch. According to the actor, the purchase was made urgently for a shoot requirement. He further alleged that when he contacted customer support, the response from the company’s representative was unhelpful.

In his post, Das questioned whether the watch he received was genuine and accused the platform of carrying out a “full scam.” He also claimed that the customer service executive informed him that nothing could be done regarding the issue.

Zepto Responds to the Allegations

Following the viral post, Zepto responded publicly and requested Vir Das to share his order details so the matter could be investigated further.

Zepto replied to the post by saying, “Hey, This isn’t the experience we aim to deliver, and I’d like to get this sorted for you. Could you please share your order details and contact number via DM? Once we have that, we’ll look into it right away.”

However, after 5 hours of sharing his worst experience he updated the post and informed people that now he has been delivered with the original watch by Zepto. Reports stated that the company initiated a reverse pickup process for the smartwatch while looking into the complaint.

Growing Concerns Around Delivery Frauds

The incident has once again triggered conversations around scams and counterfeit products linked to online deliveries. In recent years, several users across platforms have reported cases involving fake deliveries, duplicate payment scams and counterfeit electronic products.
