Young UP Woman Found Dead Months After Marriage to Social Media Influencer

In a shocking incident from Lucknow, a 24-year-old woman and social media influencer was discovered hanging at her in-laws’ residence in the Saadatganj area on Sunday, just six months after her wedding. Her family has accused her husband and other relatives of murder linked to ongoing dowry harassment.

According to police, the woman married a Lucknow resident from Saadatganj on December 9, 2025. Her relatives allege that soon after the marriage, she faced repeated harassment from her husband and in-laws over additional dowry, specifically demands for a car. The family claims they had already provided ₹7 lakh in cash along with various household items as gifts during the wedding.

The victim reportedly confided in her family about the alleged torture, prompting them to visit her matrimonial home multiple times in attempts to resolve the disputes. A complaint was eventually lodged by the woman’s uncle, stating that her in-laws killed her by hanging on May 30, 2026, due to the non-fulfillment of their escalating demands.

Authorities have registered a case against the husband—who himself is a social media influencer with nearly 7.5 lakh Instagram followers along with his father, brother, sisters, and paternal aunt. The FIR includes charges under Sections 80(2) and 85 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act.

Police officials inspected the scene, completed inquest proceedings, and sent the body for postmortem examination. The panchnama was carried out in the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Jitendra Kumar Dubey. Teams have been deployed to locate and arrest the accused, with raids currently underway. Further action will depend on evidence and the postmortem findings, authorities said.

This case bears similarities to the recent Twisha Sharma incident from Bhopal, where a woman from Noida, Uttar Pradesh, who married in December 2025, died on May 12 amid similar dowry-related allegations against her husband and in-laws. That matter has drawn significant attention, including CBI involvement.
