UIDAI To Retire mAadhaar App Soon: New Aadhaar App Brings Advanced Security And QR Verification

New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced that the existing mAadhaar application will soon be discontinued, making way for a redesigned Aadhaar app aimed at improving user security, privacy and overall digital identity management.

According to reports by The Economic Times, the new Aadhaar app has been developed with a stronger focus on secure authentication and controlled data sharing. The upgraded platform is designed to offer a more streamlined and user-friendly experience while strengthening safeguards around personal information.

Faster and More Intelligent Aadhaar Verification

One of the key highlights of the new Aadhaar app is its enhanced verification system. UIDAI says the platform enables quicker and smarter Aadhaar authentication, helping users complete identity verification processes more efficiently.

The upgraded system has been built to simplify digital identity checks while maintaining higher security standards.

Greater Control Over Personal Data

The new application introduces selective data-sharing capabilities, allowing users to decide what Aadhaar information they wish to share during verification. This feature is expected to improve privacy by limiting unnecessary exposure of personal details.

UIDAI has emphasised that the app follows a data-minimisation approach, giving users more control over their digital identity information.

Advanced Security Features

The revamped Aadhaar app comes equipped with several modern security tools, including face authentication, biometric lock controls and secure QR-code-based sharing.

These features are intended to strengthen identity protection and reduce the risk of misuse or unauthorised access to Aadhaar-related information.

Easy Setup and Transition Process

UIDAI has stated that users will receive guidance on how to install and set up the new Aadhaar app. The authority will also provide instructions to help users move from the current mAadhaar platform to the upgraded application.

The new app is available for download on supported mobile platforms and is expected to eventually replace the existing mAadhaar app entirely.

Focus on a Safer Digital Identity Experience

With the transition to the new Aadhaar app, UIDAI aims to deliver a safer and more efficient digital identity ecosystem. Features such as QR-based credential sharing, biometric authentication and enhanced privacy controls are expected to improve both convenience and security for Aadhaar holders.

The move marks a significant upgrade in India’s digital identity infrastructure as the authority prepares to retire the older mAadhaar platform in favour of a more advanced and secure solution.
