TMC Fued Escalates : Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar’s Son Legal Notice To Mamata Over Ticket Allegation

Kolkata: The shimmering power struggle within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) took a fresh turn on Saturday after Dr. Baidyanath Ghosh Dastidar, son of rebel MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, served a legal notice on party cheif Mamata Banerjee and several senior leaders over claims that he had sought a TMC ticket to contest from the Barasat Assembly constituency.

The notice challenges public remarks and political allegations suggesting that Badiyanath’s supposed disappointment over not reciving an Assembly ticket was behind Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar’s recent rebelion against the party leadership. The legal move seeks a withdarawal of the claim and is being viewed as a direct challenge to the TMC high command.

The controversy comes amid one of the deepest internal crises faced by the TMC in recent years. Relations between Mamata Banrjee’s camp and a rebel faction led by Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar have deteriorated sharply, with public exchanges, accusations and organisational shake ups exposing growing divisions within the party.

Kakoli, the Barasat MP and one of the prominent faces of the dissident camp, has repeatedly clashed with senior party leaders in recent weeks. Her rebillion gained national attention after claims that a large group of TMC MPs had expressed support for the NDA, triggering a political storm in West Bengal and New Delhi alike.

The latest legal notice is expected to further intensify the confrontation, adding a legal dimension to an already bitter political battle that has left the ruling party grappling with dissent ahead of crucial organisational and electoral challenges.
