In a high-profile union that drew prominent figures from politics and entertainment, Revati Sule, daughter of NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule, exchanged vows with Sarang Lakhanee, a businessman from Nagpur, on June 20 in Mumbai. The grand ceremony highlighted connections across diverse spheres, with political leaders from various parties in attendance alongside well-known personalities from the film industry. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had joined the pre-wedding sangeet celebrations the previous day.
Sarang Lakhanee hails from a prominent business family in Nagpur. He is the son of Arun Lakhanee, who leads the Vishvaraj Group, a firm engaged in water conservation, wastewater treatment, and road construction initiatives. With a strong academic and professional background, Sarang has built a notable career in the family enterprise while pursuing excellence in both business and sports.
He earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Nagpur University in 2014. He subsequently undertook management studies at the Indian Institute of Management in Bangalore before completing an MBA at Columbia Business School in New York in 2023. Early in his career, Sarang gained experience through an internship at the government think tank NITI Aayog in New Delhi, focusing on the Public-Private Partnerships Cell. He also interned with Citizens for Accountable Governance during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and later served part-time as a Business Development Consultant with Modern Hydrogen while pursuing his MBA.
Sarang joined the Vishvaraj Group in 2017 as Lead Project Coordinator. He advanced to Vice President of Operations and Strategy in 2018 and has served as Executive Director since June 2020, contributing to the company’s growth for over eight years.
Beyond business, Sarang is an accomplished badminton player. He has represented India in men’s singles at 34 international tournaments across more than 20 countries between 2010 and 2017, showcasing his dedication to the sport at the national level.
