Six-Year-Old Boy Killed as Class 12 Student Crashes Car Into Pedestrians in Lucknow

A six-year-old boy lost his life and five others sustained injuries after a speeding car driven by a Class 12 student ploughed into pedestrians in Lucknow on Thursday evening.

Police have detained the teenage driver and impounded the Swift Dzire involved in the incident. CCTV footage capturing the crash has emerged on social media platform X.

According to reports, the student was returning home with a friend after attending a school event when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle. The car first struck an autorickshaw before veering towards the roadside and hitting multiple pedestrians.

The victim, Dikshant Patel, was near the Hanuman temple with his mother Sadhna (35) and grandmother Meena Devi (60) at the time of the incident. He suffered a critical head injury and succumbed during treatment at a hospital. The two women were also injured in the crash, along with Arman (12) and Awadh Bihari (42).

Preliminary investigations reveal that the teenager had attended a school function earlier that day and had borrowed a friend’s car to reach the venue. While driving back with classmates, he reportedly lost control of the vehicle. Police stated that the car first hit an autorickshaw before swerving toward pedestrians on the roadside. The driver has claimed that a tyre burst caused the accident.

Officials said the student had already dropped three friends and was en route to drop another when the incident occurred. Following the collision, he reportedly fled the scene, later abandoning the vehicle and escaping with a companion. Police teams subsequently traced and detained him.
