Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan said Shirdi will emerge as a centre for defence manufacturing, innovation, and national security during the inauguration of the NIBE Defence Manufacturing Complex.

Shirdi: Chief of Defence Staff Anil Chauhan on Saturday said that Shirdi is set to develop into a major centre for defence manufacturing and technological innovation following the inauguration of the NIBE Defence Manufacturing Complex in Maharashtra.

According to ANI, General Chauhan highlighted that Shirdi, which has long been recognised for its spiritual importance, will now also gain recognition for its contribution to India’s defence and industrial sectors. He described the development as a blend of “faith and future technology.”

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the CDS emphasised the changing nature of modern warfare. He stated that future conflicts would no longer remain restricted to land, sea, and air domains, but would increasingly involve cyberspace and cognitive warfare as well. He stressed the importance of innovation and technological advancement in strengthening India’s defence preparedness.

The newly inaugurated NIBE Defence Manufacturing Complex has been designed to support advanced manufacturing in critical defence and aerospace sectors. Reports noted that the project aligns with the government’s vision of “Atmanirbhar Bharat” and aims to boost indigenous defence production capabilities in the country.

As reported by ANI and other media outlets, the large-scale project is expected to generate employment opportunities and attract engineers, innovators, MSMEs, defence experts, and investors from across India. The facility is also expected to contribute significantly to Maharashtra’s growing industrial ecosystem.

General Chauhan further underlined the role of India’s private sector in enhancing defence manufacturing capabilities and promoting self-reliance in strategic technologies. He reiterated that collaboration between industry, innovation, and the armed forces would play a crucial role in shaping the country’s future defence landscape.
