As part of an organizational reform, Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party has sacked all current spokespersons.
Shashikant Shinde, the head of the state unit, canceled all spokespersons’ assignments late on Tuesday in a press release. He stated that party head Mahesh Tapase and former MLC Vidya Chavan will act as the party’s spokespersons till fresh appointments are made.
“We are unaware of the abrupt decision. It has to be a component of the ongoing organizational transformation. One of the former spokespersons stated, “We will soon learn about the new appointments.”
The NCP (SP) has undergone a number of organizational changes in the past two weeks.
In recent days, Shinde appointed Ram Rathod as president of the party’s teachers’ cell, Vishal Wakadkar as president of the youth wing, and Sushil Borde as president of the student wing. The party’s spokespersons are now included in the organizational reform.
Shinde has been assessing the party’s operations and organizational structure while on a statewide organizational tour in recent days. Sources claim that the party chose to replace the entire panel rather than fire individual spokespersons since they had fallen short of expectations.
The incident occurred on the same day when the ruling NCP and the Congress clashed over the latter’s characterization of Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar as “Gungi Gudiya” (silent doll). There are allegedly disagreements inside the party on whether or not to join the ruling NDA.
