New Delhi : RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat underscored that today’s young generation was not misguided or directionless and called for meaningful “discussion”, not “dictation”, to understand them. Speaking at the ‘Vishwa Mangalya Sabha’ event, Bhagwat reflected on the widening gap between generations, saying today’s youth require the right guidance. “When we were young, it was an era of obedience.
The RSS chief said today’s younger generation was more inclined to ask questions, making it essential for parents and elders to engage with them. At the same time, he voiced concern over the shrinking space for conversations within families. He further underlined that winning the trust of the youth requires conversation, not commands. “We need to give the new generation a sense of belonging. We need to communicate. Not dictation, but discussion. Not orders, but consensus,” Bhagwat said.
The RSS chief has so far not commented on the CJP protests, which have spilt onto other states as well. The July 20 violence, where the protesters and the police fought pitched battles barely metres from the Parliament, has only deepened public anger. The RSS chief’s silence was questioned by senior advocate Kapil Sibal on Friday. “Mohan Bhagwat ji. Events at Jantar Mantar… Your silence in the last one month is more eloquent than your sermons,” Sibal tweeted.
However, the government has ruled it out, even though it has taken a series of steps to arrest future paper leaks. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has intervened, announcing a bill to ensure strict punishment for those involved in paper leaks and education-related malpractices. The CJP, a satirical movement spearheading the protests, has refused to dial down its demands despite two rounds of talks with the government.
On Friday, senior RSS leader Indresh Kumar alleged that forces within the country and abroad were behind the CJP protest, ANI reported. “Behind these protests are those forces, both within the country and globally, that do not want India to become a developed, strong, and educated nation,” Kumar said.
