Chandigarh/Hoshiarpur: In a significant breakthrough ahead of Republic Day, the Punjab Police have neutralized a terror network supported by Pakistanโs Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). In a joint operation executed by the Hoshiarpur Police and Counter Intelligence Jalandhar, authorities busted a module of the banned outfit Babbar Khalsa International. The crackdown resulted in the arrest of four operatives and the recovery of a high-intensity Improvised Explosive Device (IED) containing approximately 2.5 kilograms of RDX, along with two illegal pistols.
Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav confirmed the arrests, identifying the accused as Diljot Singh, Harman Singh (alias Harry), Ajay (alias Mehra), and Arshdeep Singh (alias Arsh Kandola). All four suspects hail from the Rahon area of Nawanshahr district. According to DGP Yadav, preliminary investigations suggest that the recovered explosives were procured to execute a targeted terror attack during Republic Day celebrations.
Sources within the department indicate that the Counter Intelligence wing had been tracking a critical lead regarding explosives smuggled from Pakistan for a considerable period. This intelligence revealed that the suspects in the Rahon area had taken delivery of the weapons and explosives to carry out a major incident during the national holiday. The arrests were made following days of covert surveillance on the suspects.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hoshiarpur, Sandeep Malik, disclosed that the module was being directed by foreign-based handlers of Babbar Khalsa. The operatives had reportedly arranged the cross-border smuggling of the weaponry through the Ferozepur and Amritsar rural sectors.
A case has been registered at the Garhshankar Police Station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Arms Act, and the Explosives Act. Police officials have assured that strict action against terrorism will continue to maintain peace and security within the state.
