Debt Crisis Drives Rajasthan Mother and Two Sons to Suicide in Pali Home

A family of three was discovered dead in their home in a upscale neighborhood of Pali, Rajasthan, in what police believe was a case of suicide driven by severe financial distress.

The bodies were found on Thursday evening in a residence within Ashapura township along Jodhpur Road, after the house had remained locked for two days, raising concerns among neighbors. The elder son, Narpat Lal (34), was found hanging from a ceiling fan, while his mother, Shanti Devi (59), and younger son Raghuveer (26), lay on the floor nearby. A bottle of poison was recovered close to the mother and younger son.

Investigators from the Pali police recovered two mobile phones and a suicide note from the scene. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Madan Singh, the note indicated that the family had taken the extreme step due to depression stemming from prolonged illness and mounting financial pressures.

Officials suspect the deaths resulted from suicide, though they continue to probe other possible angles as a matter of procedure. The grim discovery has sent shockwaves through the local community in the posh locality.
