‘I Deserve The Public Hate’: Pranit More’s Fresh Apology Reignites Debate Over Viral ₹370 Biryani Remark

Mumbai: Comedian Pranit More has once again apologised amid the ongoing backlash surrounding the viral RS 370 biryani controversy, this time admitting that the criticism coming his way is justified.

In a fresh statement shared online, More said, “I deserve the public hate,” acknowledging that he failed to handle the situation appropriately when the incident unfolded during one of his stand up shows.

The controversy erupted after a crowd work clip from More’s performance went viral on social media. In the video, an audience member suggested that spending Rs 370 on biryani for a woman during a date entitled him to something in return. While the remark drew laughter at the venue, many social media users later criticised More for not immediately calling out the comment and instead continuing the interaction.

As the clip spread online, outrage quickly followed, with many accusing the comedian of normalising problematic views about consent. More initially issued an apology, saying he should have challenged the remark on stage. However, the backlash continued, prompting his latest and more direct admission of responsibility.

The controversy has since snowballed beyond the comedy circuit, drawing reactions from celebrities, social media influencers and political leaders. The incident has also sparked wider conversations around consent, accountability in comedy and the responsibility performers have during live crowd interactions.

While some users have appreciated More’s willingness to accept criticism, others believe the apology comes too late. Either way, the Rs 370 biryani row remains one of the most talked about controversies in India’s stand up comedy scene this year.
