PM Modi On Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam Failure: Women’s Pride Cannot Be Ignored

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Saturday, expressing deep regret over the failure to pass the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam Amendment. He offered a sincere apology to the women of the country, stating that he deeply apologizes to all the mothers and sisters of the nation for this unfortunate outcome, which has stalled the aspirations of millions of women.

In his remarks, the Prime Minister highlighted the emotional impact of the development. He noted that women may forget many things, but they never forget an insult to their pride. He described the failure of the bill as a blow to the dignity and self-respect of women across the country.

PM Modi presented the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam Amendment as a transformative step aimed at ensuring equal participation of women in India’s democratic framework. He called it a sincere effort to make women equal partners in the nation’s development journey and referred to it as a ‘Mahayagya’ for empowering women in the 21st century.

He criticised dynastic political parties for opposing the bill, alleging that they fear the rise of women leaders outside their family circles and are taking women’s power for granted. The Prime Minister stated that snatching away women’s rights and thumping tables in opposition amounted to an assault on the dignity and self-respect of women.

PM Modi observed that the country has now understood the political pattern used to deny women their rights, and that women across India are aware and will hold those responsible accountable. He clarified that the proposed framework would ensure fair representation for all states without any state losing seats, with representation increasing proportionately.

Drawing comparisons with earlier reforms such as the Jan Dhan-Aadhaar-Mobile trinity, digital payments, GST, the law against Triple Talaq, the Citizenship Amendment Act, and efforts against extremism, he noted that such indecision and resistance have historically delayed India’s progress.

Reaffirming the government’s resolve, PM Modi assured that every obstacle in the path of women’s reservation would be removed. He expressed confidence that the blessings of the country’s entire Nari Shakti are with the effort and reiterated the commitment to fulfilling the dreams of half the population for the future of the nation.
