Noida International Airport at Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, is set to open its first phase on Saturday, March 28, 2026, in a ceremony led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will attend the event alongside several Union and state ministers. The development marks a significant milestone for aviation infrastructure in the National Capital Region and western Uttar Pradesh.
The initial phase of the project carries an investment of Rs 11,282 crore as part of an overall estimated cost of Rs 29,560 crore. Officials position the airport as a future major hub that will strengthen connectivity between the greater Delhi region and western Uttar Pradesh to both domestic and international destinations. Noida International Airport CEO Christoph Schnellmann described the facility as combining “Swiss efficiency and Indian hospitality.”
The first phase is designed to handle an annual passenger capacity of 1.2 crore, with potential expansion up to 7 crore passengers in the years ahead. It features a 3,900-metre runway equipped to accommodate wide-body aircraft and fitted with advanced navigation aids, including the Instrument Landing System (ILS) and modern airfield lighting. The runway is also prepared for low-visibility operations, addressing challenges such as winter fog that often affects the region. The terminal building emphasizes quick passenger processing, promising a check-in time of around 10 minutes.
