Mumbai Tragedy : Thane Businessman Dies by Suicide After Jumping From Bandra-Worli Sea Link

Mumbai: A 51-year-old businessman from Thane died by suicide on Thursday after jumping from the Bandra-Worli Sea Link into the Arabian Sea. The tragic incident occurred shortly after the man visited the iconic Siddhivinayak Temple in Prabhadevi to offer prayers, as reported by The Free Press Journal (FPJ).

According to police officials cited by the news publication, the deceased was identified as a resident of Thane who operated a garments business. Preliminary investigations indicate that mounting financial crises and persistent business losses drove him to take the extreme step.

Final Visit to Siddhivinayak Temple

On the morning of the incident, the businessman left his residence in Thane and headed toward South Mumbai. Before driving to the sea bridge, he visited the Siddhivinayak Temple to pray. Investigators recovered a note from his vehicle, which detailed his severe financial struggles and layout of debts, indicating that his economic situation had become unmanageable.

After leaving the temple premises, he drove his car onto the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. Witness accounts and security inputs revealed that he parked his vehicle at a distance along the bridge, exited the car, and jumped into the sea before anyone nearby could intervene.

Recovery Operations and Legal Proceedings

Following alerts regarding a person jumping off the bridge, Mumbai Police personnel, along with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) fire brigade and local fishermen, launched an immediate search and rescue operation. After a coordinated search effort, his body was recovered from the water and shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors officially declared him dead.

The Worli Police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) concerning the tragedy. Speaking to The Free Press Journal, a senior police officer confirmed that the businessman’s family has been informed of the details. The police are continuing their investigation into the exact sequence of events, relying on CCTV footage from the Sea Link and the recovered note to complete their inquiry.
