Mumbai: An alert woman security guard stationed at Reliance Infrastructure-promoted Mumbai Metro One Pvt. Ltd. displayed exceptional vigilance and courage by detecting a passenger carrying suspected narcotic substance during routine baggage screening at Airport Metro Station on Friday.
What Happened At The Mumbai Metro One Station?
During a standard luggage screening at a Ghatkopar-bound station entry, security guard Ms. Kanchan Pandey identified an anomaly in a traveler’s bag. A subsequent detailed search of the baggage revealed nine packages containing a substance suspected to be marijuana.
Upon the discovery, the individual attempted to escape the station by physically resisting.
Demonstrating exceptional situational awareness, Ms. Pandey instantly signaled the security team on duty, who pursued and successfully detained the fleeing suspect. The successful capture was a collaborative result of quick action by Security Officer A. Kamble, ASG Avinas (MSF), Supervisor Wasim Tadvi, and their fellow security team members, who worked in tandem to block the suspect’s escape routes.
Following the detention, the suspect and the confiscated contraband were transferred to the custody of the Andheri Police Station. A First Information Report (FIR) has been officially filed, and the police have launched a formal investigation into the matter.
