Mumbai: With summer holidays approaching and demand for travel to Goa surging, Konkan Railway has introduced special train services between Mumbai and Madgaon to help ease pressure on regular services.
The additional trains aim to provide extra capacity for passengers heading to popular coastal destinations in the Konkan region during the peak travel period in early April, when ticket bookings usually see a sharp spike.
According to the announcement, two special trains will operate on select dates:
Train No. 01129 (Mumbai CSMT–Madgaon Junction Special)
- Will depart from Mumbai CSMT at 12:20 am on April 3 and April 5.
- It is scheduled to reach Madgaon Junction at 3:15 pm on the same day.
- The train will halt at multiple stations along the scenic Konkan route.
Train No. 01130 (Madgaon Junction–Mumbai CSMT Special)
- Will leave Madgaon Junction at 4:00 pm on April 3 and April 5.
- It will arrive at Mumbai CSMT at 3:45 am the following day, offering a convenient overnight return option.
These services are expected to bring considerable relief to travellers who often struggle to find confirmed berths on regular trains during the holiday season.
In addition, Central Railway has announced special trains from Pune to various destinations across the country to meet the rising passenger demand during this period.
Officials described the move as part of a wider initiative to accommodate increased footfall and enhance the overall travel experience for passengers, especially those visiting Goa, a major tourist hotspot in summer.
Passengers are strongly advised to check seat availability on the official IRCTC website or app and book tickets well in advance, as demand for these special trains is anticipated to remain high.
The development comes as a welcome measure for both leisure travellers and those commuting for other purposes along the busy Mumbai-Goa corridor.
