Man Allegedly Slits Throats Of Pregnant Wife And Three Young Daughters, Flees As Manhunt Intensifies

A shocking quadruple murder has rocked the Samaypur Badli neighbourhood in outer north Delhi, where a vegetable seller is accused of brutally killing his two-month pregnant wife and their three minor daughters by slashing their throats in their rented home.

The victims were identified as 27-year-old Anita and her daughters, aged three, four, and five. Their bodies were discovered Wednesday morning in a ground-floor room of their single-room accommodation in Chandan Vihar, lying in pools of blood after neighbours raised the alarm around 8 am.

Officers from Samaypur Badli police station responded swiftly and described the crime scene as exceptionally gruesome. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Hareshwar Swami stated that the deep wounds, inflicted by a sharp-edged weapon, had severed the victims’ windpipes.

The prime suspect is the husband, Munchun Kewat, a vegetable vendor at Azadpur Mandi who hails from Patna district in Bihar. He has been missing since the early hours of Wednesday. CCTV footage reportedly captured him fleeing the vicinity around 5 am, after which his mobile phone was switched off near Jahangirpuri. Police have filed a case under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and formed multiple teams to locate and arrest him.

The family had resided in the area for approximately two years. Relatives indicated that the couple seldom quarrelled, though one neighbour mentioned overhearing loud voices from their home during an argument on Tuesday night.

The horrific discovery was made by Kewat’s 10-year-old nephew, who arrived early that morning intending to join his uncle at the market. Finding the outer gate locked from outside but the room door ajar, he entered and was confronted with the blood-soaked scene, describing the victims as appearing unconscious amid widespread blood.

Preliminary investigations suggest the accused may have sedated his wife and daughters before carrying out the killings. While authorities are examining all possibilities, including rumours of an extramarital affair, the leading theory points to the suspect’s alleged desire for a male child—given the three daughters and the ongoing pregnancy—as a potential motive, according to police sources cited by news agency PTI.

The brutal incident has left the local community reeling, with relatives and neighbours grappling with the unimaginable tragedy.
