LPG Prices Hiked: Domestic Cylinder Costlier by ₹60, Commercial Up ₹115 Amid West Asia Tensions

New Delhi: The impact of the West Asia conflict led to hikes in prices of LPG and commercial cylinders by a steep Rs. 60 and Rs. 114.5 respectively.

According to the Indian Oil Corporation website, the common household users that use non-subsidised LPG cylinders that means the one who do not avail the benefits of Ujjwala Beneficiaries will now cost Rs. 913 per 14.2-kg cylinder in Delhi which was previously priced at Rs.853. Talking about Mumbai, the non-subsidised LPG will now cost Rs.912.50 whereas in Chennai it is Rs. 928.50 and in Kolkata it is Rs. 939. Rates differ from states to state as it depends on the local sales tax or VAT applicable in that respective state.

It’s the second hike in less than a year. Last year in April the prices were hiked by Rs. 50.

Industry officials informed that the rise in prices are due to the hike in global energy prices since the initiation of middle east conflict. Even if there’s a hike in prices in India, the neighboring countries are facing a much worse situation than us. The increase in price came into effect from March 7 as notified in the website.

Meanwhile, there is no change in subsidy of Ujjwala Yojana Beneficiaries. The scheme that was launched in 2016 will still continue to get a subsidy of Rs. 300 per 14.2 kg cylinder for up to 12 refills in a year.

Commercial LPG rates have hit by Rs. 302.50 this year.
