Law enforcement in the national capital have disrupted what officials describe as an imminent assassination attempt, arresting three men accused of working as hired gunmen for a notorious criminal syndicate.
According to police, a specialized unit operating in Delhi’s Rohini district received precise intelligence pointing to the suspects’ activities. Investigators moved quickly, setting up covert surveillance before closing in and detaining all three men before they could carry out their intended attack.
Officers say the trio was following directions relayed from handlers operating outside the country, who had allegedly tasked them with tracking down and eliminating a specific target. Beyond this foiled plan, authorities noted that each of the men already had an extensive criminal history in the capital, with several open cases pending against them, and that they had carried out similar contract-style attacks in the past.
The case adds to a string of recent actions against the crime network, which has drawn heightened attention both domestically and internationally. Just days earlier, in a separate but related operation, two other alleged members of an affiliated cell were killed during an exchange of gunfire with a joint police team operating in a neighboring state. Those two men had been sought for their suspected role in the killing of a gym operator earlier this year, an attack partly captured on surveillance footage.

The broader organization has also become a focus for authorities abroad. American investigators recently put up a sizable cash reward for tips leading to the capture of a man believed to be running the group’s operations across North America, after formally charging him in a U.S. federal court with racketeering, extortion, and drug-trafficking related offenses. That prosecution follows earlier charges filed against the network’s alleged top leader and this associate over their suspected involvement in a string of violent crimes, including a high-profile killing on foreign soil several years ago. Officials handling that case have stressed that the charges remain allegations, with defendants entitled to a presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
Back in Delhi, investigators say the case remains open, with police continuing to probe the full extent of the network’s local operations and its ties abroad.
