Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday reserved its decision on the anticipatory bail plea moved by social media personality Monalisa Bhosle and her husband Mohammed Farmaan Khan in connection with a case registered in Madhya Pradesh.
Monalisa, who became widely known after videos from the Kumbh Mela went viral online, has found herself at the centre of a legal dispute linked to her interfaith marriage. The matter has since drawn political and public attention across states.
Court Observes Couple Is “Lucky” To Be In Kerala
During the hearing, the Kerala High Court reportedly remarked that the couple was fortunate to be in Kerala, while referring to the alleged threats they claimed to have received in Madhya Pradesh.
According to IANS, the court was hearing arguments related to the plea seeking protection from arrest in a kidnapping case filed against the couple.
Justice Kauser Edappagath reserved the verdict after hearing submissions from both sides and indicated that the order would likely be delivered soon.

Allegations Linked To Marriage
The controversy began after Monalisa Bhosle married Mohammed Farmaan Khan in Kerala earlier this year. The marriage had triggered objections from her family, who later filed a complaint alleging that she had been abducted.
The case also raised questions regarding Monalisa’s age and the legality of the marriage, prompting further legal scrutiny.
The couple, however, maintained before the court that the marriage was consensual and that they feared for their safety due to threats and public attention surrounding the case.
Monalisa Became Popular During Kumbh Mela
Monalisa Bhosle gained nationwide attention after clips of her at the Kumbh Mela circulated widely on social media. Her popularity quickly grew online, making her a viral internet figure.
Earlier reports by NDTV had stated that she married Farmaan Khan at a temple in Thiruvananthapuram after reportedly seeking police protection. Kerala Education Minister V Sivankutty had also publicly commented on the marriage, describing it as an example of Kerala’s secular values.
Case Draws National Attention
The legal proceedings have continued to attract widespread attention due to Monalisa’s online popularity and the interfaith nature of the marriage. As per reports, the Kerala High Court is expected to pronounce its order on the anticipatory bail plea shortly.
