Jodhpur Sisters Die by Suicide Hours Before Their Weddings

In a devastating turn of events in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur district, two young sisters ended their lives on the eve of their scheduled weddings, leaving a family and community in deep shock and sorrow.

The incident took place in Manai village, where Shobha, 25, and Vimla, 23—daughters of Deep Singh—were set to marry on Saturday in a joint ceremony. Preparations had been underway with full enthusiasm on Friday, as relatives and guests participated in the festivities that extended late into the night.

According to police, the sisters went to bed around midnight after the celebrations. Their condition worsened abruptly around 4 a.m., alarming family members who immediately rushed them to a private hospital in Jodhpur. Doctors declared both women dead on arrival.

ADCP (West) Roshan Meena detailed the sequence of events, stating that the household had been immersed in wedding joy until late Friday. After the sudden deterioration in health, the bodies were initially brought back home for funeral rites, but police arrived, stopped the proceedings, and transferred the remains for post-mortem examination.

Preliminary police inquiries indicate that the sisters likely consumed a poisonous substance, leading to their deaths. The official cause awaits confirmation from the post-mortem report. No suicide note has been discovered at the scene so far.

The abrupt shift from wedding preparations to mourning has left the village stunned, as investigators continue probing the circumstances behind this heartbreaking double tragedy.
