IndiGo Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Kolkata After Bomb Threat Scrawled in Lipstick on Washroom

An IndiGo aircraft traveling from Dibrugarh Airport in Assam to Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport was forced to make an emergency landing on Saturday evening following the discovery of a bomb threat message written with lipstick inside the plane’s washroom. According to officials, the aircraft, operating as IndiGo flight 6E6894 (A-320), touched down safely at 7:37pm after the threat was detected and was promptly relocated to the isolation bay in accordance with established security protocols, with all passengers safely disembarked.

IndiGo faces second bomb threat in a single day

Earlier the same day, crew members aboard another IndiGo flight preparing to depart for Shillong from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport discovered a bomb threat note scribbled on paper in the aircraft’s washroom while passengers were in the process of boarding. After finding the note, passengers were immediately deboarded and the plane was transferred to the isolation bay for comprehensive security checks.

“Bomb scare in Kolkata to Shillong IndiGo 6E3074, which was scheduled to depart at 9:15 AM, from Kolkata Airport. The aircraft has been moved to the isolation bay. During boarding, crew members found a piece of paper inside the aircraft’s toilet compartment, which stated that there was a bomb inside the aircraft. Immediately afterwards, passengers were removed from the aircraft. The checking process is going on,” the airport director said.
