DGCA’s Rules on Power Banks on Flights

Under new rules issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in 2026, passengers are prohibited from using power banks on flights to charge phones or other devices. Power banks are permitted only in carry-on luggage and cannot be stored in overhead compartments, as fires in such locations are harder to detect and control. Spare batteries are subject to the same restrictions.
