India Releases 28-Minute Documentary on Operation Sindoor on Its First Anniversary | Watch

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday, May 7, released a documentary film on Operation Sindoor at the Joint Commanders’ Conference in Jaipur, marking exactly one year since India launched its military strikes against terror targets in Pakistan.

The 28-minute film is available to watch on YouTube. It details the mission undertaken by India’s armed forces in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack, tracing the events from the attack through to the strikes and their aftermath.

The Indian Army had earlier released a teaser for the documentary. It opens with a statement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi warning terrorists and their handlers, before showing how India’s armed forces prepared for the operation following the April 22, 2025 Pahalgam attack and how the mission targeted terrorist networks based in Pakistan. The film also includes visuals of destruction at terror camps and military sites.

The Pahalgam Attack That Triggered It All

On April 22, 2025, armed terrorists affiliated with Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba opened fire on Hindu tourists in the Baisaran Valley in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, killing 26 people. The attack prompted a nationwide outcry and swift government action. India placed the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan in abeyance the following day and closed its border crossings with Pakistan. Senior officials held closed-door meetings as the armed forces were placed on high alert.

Operation Sindoor: What Happened

On May 7, 2025, India launched precision strikes against nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The operation targeted the Jaish-e-Mohammad stronghold of Bahawalpur and the Lashkar-e-Taiba base in Muridke. Over 100 terrorists were killed, including Yusuf Azhar, Abdul Malik Rauf and Mudasir Ahmed.

Pakistan responded with attacks on Indian cities, triggering four days of military confrontations during which India struck multiple terror and military targets inside Pakistan. A ceasefire was eventually declared after both sides reached an agreement. India has since stated that Operation Sindoor represents a new normal, maintaining that the operation remains ongoing.
