Hyderabad Techie Kills Self, Family Blames Wife’s Affair

In a tragic incident that has spotlighted the severe emotional toll of marital discord, a 36-year-old software professional from Hyderabad died by suicide after jumping into Hussain Sagar lake on February 9. The victim’s family has pointed to his wife’s alleged extramarital affair as the primary trigger for the mental stress that led to his death.

S Seetharam Reddy’s relatives alleged that his wife, Renuka, was involved in an affair with a businessman identified as M Ramana Reddy. According to the family, tensions escalated sharply in January when Renuka left the marital home, resulting in frequent quarrels between the couple. The situation worsened further when an intimate video involving the woman was reportedly shared with the techie, plunging him into extreme mental distress, his father Venkateshwar told investigators.

The couple, who married in 2018, were parents to two young children aged around seven and five. Distraught over his wife’s absence, Seetharam Reddy had even filed a missing persons complaint with the police.

Following the suicide, a zero FIR was initially registered and subsequently transferred to the Bachupally police station for detailed investigation. Authorities concluded that the ongoing disputes stemming from the affair had caused significant mental agony to the victim.

On April 21, police arrested Renuka and her alleged lover M Ramana Reddy on charges of abetment to suicide. Both were later remanded to judicial custody.

The case serves as a grim reminder of how personal relationships, when strained by infidelity and prolonged conflict, can push individuals toward irreversible decisions. Police continue to examine the sequence of events that culminated in the techie’s death in the prominent Hyderabad water body.
