A 16-year-old Class 11 student from Uttar Pradesh was allegedly gang-raped inside a moving sleeper bus after she boarded the vehicle during heavy rain near Greater Noida’s Pari Chowk. The incident took place on August 4, and the bus driver and conductor have since been arrested in connection with the case.
According to the police investigation, the teenager had left her home without informing her family and was travelling to Noida to meet her cousin. During the journey, heavy rain and darkness reportedly caused her to get off at Pari Chowk in Greater Noida.
Stranded in the area, the girl allegedly signalled an empty sleeper bus passing through the area. The driver, identified as Kuldeep, and conductor Sandeep reportedly stopped and offered her a ride, telling her that they were heading towards Noida Sector 63.
The girl told investigators that after the bus began moving, the conductor allegedly behaved inappropriately towards her. She further alleged that both men sexually assaulted her inside the bus and threatened her with serious consequences if she resisted.
The bus subsequently travelled towards Delhi, covering approximately 47 kilometres before the teenager was allegedly abandoned near the Ring Road close to the Kashmere Gate bus terminal. After being left there, she approached the Kashmere Gate police station and reported the incident.
Investigators later traced the two accused and arrested them from a bus parking area in Timarpur. The sleeper bus involved in the incident was also seized and sent for forensic examination as part of the investigation.
Police said the bus had earlier developed a mechanical problem and had been taken to a workshop in Greater Noida’s Surajpur area for repairs. After the repairs were completed, the driver and conductor were reportedly taking the empty bus towards its parking location when they encountered the teenager at Pari Chowk.
The vehicle was fitted with curtains around its sleeper berths, potentially limiting visibility from outside during the journey. Investigators are examining available evidence, including CCTV footage and forensic findings, as the probe continues.
