Delhi : A video of Gurpatwant Pannun, US–based Khalistani extremist, has been doing rounds on social media aiming to disrupt the Republic Day Parade released on Friday.
In the video, Sikh For Justice Chief claims “Sleeper Cells” have pasted Pro Khalistan posters in Rohini and Dabri areas of Delhi to create unrest ahead of Republic Day. An FIR has been registered against him under Sections 61 (criminal conspiracy), 196 (promoting enmity), 197 (imputations prejudicial to national integration) and 152 (acts endangering the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) by Delhi Police Special Cell.
The team of Delhi police undertook a thorough check and no suspicious activity was found in the location. He also used abusive slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, however it’s not the first time when Pannun tried to create any fake alarms or ignite unrest in India.
Officials said that he had announced a reward of US$111,000 for stopping the PM from hoisting the national flag on January 26 and putting Khalistan flags on railway tracks in Punjab, among other acts.
Delhi police have set up high level surveillance and multi-layer security in wake of Republic Day celebrations. Every nook and corner has been monitored through high tech CCTV cameras and are watched 24 by 7 across Kartavya Path and entire Delhi for smooth flow of the event.
