DK Shivakumar Set to Become India’s Richest Chief Minister With Assets Worth Rs 1,413 Crore

Bengaluru : Karnataka’s D K Shivakumar is set to assume office as the richest chief minister in the country, with declared assets amounting to Rs 1,413 crore. The figures emerge from an analysis of election affidavits conducted by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).

According to the ADR assessment, Shivakumar moves ahead of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, whose declared assets stand at Rs 931 crore, and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, who has reported assets worth Rs 648 crore.

Southern States Dominate Wealth Rankings

The latest rankings indicate that the three wealthiest chief ministers in India are now from southern states. In ADR’s 2025 list, Chandrababu Naidu occupied the top position, followed by Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, who declared assets worth Rs 332 crore. Karnataka’s outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was also among the prominent names on that list.

Wealth Disclosure Draws Attention

Shivakumar has often stood apart from many political leaders who prefer to project a modest public image. Unlike politicians who consciously maintain a simple appearance, Shivakumar has never shied away from displaying his affluent lifestyle.

His substantial asset declaration has once again brought public attention to the financial profiles of India’s political leaders, particularly those holding top executive positions in state governments.

As he prepares to take charge of Karnataka, Shivakumar’s reported wealth places him at the top of the list of chief ministers in terms of declared assets, according to the ADR’s affidavit-based analysis.
