New Delhi: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has issued updated health screening guidelines for passengers arriving in India from Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo amid concerns surrounding Ebola cases in parts of Africa. According to a report by Business Standard, airlines and airport authorities have been directed to implement enhanced precautionary measures for travellers coming from the affected regions.
The advisory has been issued as part of preventive efforts aimed at strengthening surveillance and reducing potential health risks at Indian airports.
Enhanced Passenger Screening At Airports
Under the new instructions, airport operators and airlines have been asked to closely monitor passengers travelling from Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Health screening protocols are expected to be strengthened to identify travellers showing symptoms associated with Ebola infection.
Authorities have also been advised to ensure that medical response systems and reporting mechanisms remain prepared in case any suspected case is detected during screening procedures.
Focus On Preventive Health Measures
According to Business Standard, the DGCA’s guidelines are intended to support precautionary public health measures and improve coordination among aviation, airport and health authorities. The measures are aimed at ensuring early detection and timely response if required.
Officials are expected to maintain strict vigilance for passengers arriving through international routes connected to the affected countries.

The report stated that airlines and airport management teams have been instructed to coordinate with health officials to ensure proper implementation of screening procedures. Authorities are also expected to follow standard protocols related to isolation, medical observation and passenger reporting wherever necessary.

The advisory comes as several countries continue to strengthen monitoring systems for infectious diseases linked to international travel. Indian authorities are maintaining surveillance measures to prevent any possible spread of infections through incoming passengers.
