Delhi: Several areas of Delhi witnessed rainfall on Sunday, bringing much-needed respite from the recent spell of heat in the national capital. According to The Times of India, the showers were recorded in multiple parts of the city, providing temporary relief for residents who had been experiencing unusually warm conditions over the past few days.
The rainfall led to a change in weather conditions, and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that the city’s maximum temperature is likely to fall to around 27°C to 29°C. The drop in temperature is expected to make the weather more comfortable compared to the recent heat that had pushed daytime temperatures well above the seasonal average.
Weather officials indicated that cloudy skies and intermittent showers could continue to influence the capital’s weather through the day. The rainfall is also associated with a western disturbance affecting northern parts of India, which typically brings light rain and gusty winds to the region.
Earlier in the week, Delhi had recorded unusually high temperatures for this time of the year, with the mercury rising sharply and causing discomfort for residents. Meteorological officials had already predicted that the approaching weather system could lead to rainfall and help bring down temperatures in the coming days.
The showers on Sunday morning were therefore welcomed by many residents, as they offered relief from the early onset of summer-like heat. Authorities expect the change in weather conditions to keep temperatures below the 30°C mark for the time being.
While the rainfall has brought temporary relief, weather experts continue to monitor conditions closely to determine whether similar spells will occur in the coming days. For now, the showers have provided a brief but noticeable break from the rising heat in the national capital.
