Prayagraj: A friendship that allegedly began on social media has now turned into a major extortion complaint in Uttar Pradesh, with a woman accused of blackmailing men using their intimate photographs and videos and demanding money.
The woman, identified as Pallavi Singh Rajput, allegedly befriended men online before meeting them in person. According to a complaint filed by a High Court lawyer, some of the men were later photographed or recorded during their meetings. Those pictures and videos were allegedly used to threaten them with criminal cases if they refused to pay.
The complainant claims that more than rs 6 crore was extorted from victims.The allegations also include threats of cases involving serious charges such as rape and attempted murder. The victim’s side further claims that five people were jailed following complaints filed by the woman, with the threat of further legal action allegedly being used to pressure others into paying money.
According to another complaint, Rajput allegedly used different social media identities, including the name “Sweety Tiwari,” to contact people. She is also alleged to have been assisted by two women and two men.
Photos circulating online have added another layer to the case. One appears to show bundles of cash on a bed, while another shows a woman holding what appears to be a weapon. However, the origin and context of these images have not been independently verified.
Police are now investigating the allegations and the claims made in the complaints.
