Couple Found Shot Dead In Locked Car Amid Betrayal Claims

In a shocking incident that marred Valentine’s Day in Noida, a 32-year-old man and his 26-year-old partner were discovered dead from gunshot wounds inside a locked car, leading police to probe a suspected murder-suicide case while the man’s relatives allege foul play possibly linked to caste tensions.

The victims were Sumit, a resident of Trilokpuri in Delhi, and Rekha, from Sector 58 in Noida. The discovery was made under the Sector 39 police station’s jurisdiction after local residents reported hearing gunshots and notified authorities. Officers arrived to find the pair unresponsive in the vehicle, which was locked from the inside. A pistol was recovered in Sumit’s hand, with spent cartridges also present at the scene.

Forensic experts processed the site, gathering evidence, and the bodies were transported for post-mortem examination. Both individuals had been reported missing from their respective homes since the day prior, with formal missing person complaints already registered.

According to police sources, the couple had maintained a relationship for nearly 15 years, and both families were aware of their involvement. Sumit reportedly sent a WhatsApp message to contacts prior to the incident, in which he declared his intent to end his life and attributed responsibility to Rekha. The message stated that after 15 years together—during which she had promised marriage—she was now preparing to wed another person, resulting in his feeling of profound betrayal.

Preliminary police assessment indicates that Sumit shot Rekha before fatally wounding himself. However, Sumit’s family has challenged this version of events, asserting that the deaths could constitute murder rather than suicide. They claimed Rekha’s family had subjected the couple to taunts over caste differences and that threatening calls—some originating from international numbers—had warned of police intervention. A relative highlighted the car’s location, mere hundreds of meters from Rekha’s village in Salarpur, as particularly suspicious.

Family members stressed that the relationship had endured for over a decade, with Rekha participating in family gatherings, and denied exerting any pressure from their side. They suggested caste-related animosity as a potential underlying factor, insisting the couple were victims of such prejudice.
