Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), announced on Saturday that he had been diagnosed with typhoid, but he promised that his illness would not deter the drive to force the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Dipke said he had been sick for a few days and was receiving treatment in a video message posted on social media.
“As you know, I have been unwell for the last few days,” he added, thanking CJP supporters for sustaining the protests nationwide despite his illness and assuring them that the campaign would succeed. I’ve been diagnosed with typhoid, and the reports are out,” he declared.
According to Dipke, he was taking intravenous medicine as part of his treatment.
“The course of treatment is ongoing. Every day, I receive IV drips. However, I would like to express my gratitude to all the cockroaches who are peacefully demonstrating across the nation,” he stated. Dipke praised supporters for growing the movement and expressed his belief that persistent, nonviolent protests will enable them to fulfill their main objective, which is the resignation of Union minister Pradhan.
“Kudos to each and every one of you for making this movement such a huge success. He declared, “I have no doubt that if we keep protesting in this manner, Dharmendra Pradhan will resign.”
Launched in response to purported anomalies in competitive exams, the CJP-led campaign has been calling for Pradhan’s resignation, reforms in recruitment and admission exams, and accountability in the testing system.
Activist Sonam Wangchuk, who joined the movement on June 28 and observed a 26-day hunger strike, was among the public figures who supported the protest.
Wangchuk broke his fast earlier this week after receiving written assurances from the Center that no cases would be filed against nonviolent protestors, that examination reforms and accountability would be discussed in Parliament, and that compensation for the families of students who committed suicide as a result of the purported NEET paper leak would be positively considered.
The CJP has insisted that its demonstration at Jantar Mantar will go on till Pradhan resigns, even if Wangchuk has broken his fast.
