Centre Asks NTA To Tighten Exam Security Within 20 Days

New Delhi : The Central government has asked the National Testing Agency (NTA) to strengthen its examination system within the next 20 days to ensure fair and secure conduct of national-level entrance tests. The direction comes at a time when concerns over paper leaks and exam-related irregularities have raised questions about the credibility of competitive examinations in the country.

In a recent review meeting, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan instructed officials to improve security arrangements at every stage of the examination process. The government has reportedly asked the agency to adopt stricter monitoring systems, improve coordination with local authorities, and ensure safer handling and transportation of question papers.

The NTA conducts some of India’s biggest entrance examinations, including NEET, JEE Main, CUET, and UGC-NET, involving millions of students every year. Following controversies surrounding alleged malpractices in recent exams, the Centre is now pushing for quicker reforms to restore confidence among students and parents.

Officials are also focusing on the use of technology to prevent cheating and unauthorised access to exam material. Increased surveillance, stronger digital security, and better verification systems are expected to be part of the new measures.

The government believes these steps will help make the examination process more transparent and reliable before the next cycle of major entrance tests begins.
