Bengaluru Man Crashes Car With Friend Clinging To Door After Fight

Bengaluru : A 28-year-old man died after allegedly hanging off his friend’s moving car following a violent altercation after a cricket tournament in Bengaluru, police said. The incident that occurred on Sunday night, was captured on the vehicle’s dashcam. The victim was identified as Prashanth, a resident of Hebbagodi, while his friend, Roshan Hegde (27), was behind the wheel.

Police said the dispute began after their cricket team lost a local tournament and did not end at the ground. As per a complaint filed by Prashanth’s mother, the situation took a critical turn when Roshan attempted to leave in his car. Prashanth allegedly tried to stop him by holding onto the left window of the moving vehicle. As Roshan drove off, the car veered off the road and crashed into a tree.

The impact left Prashanth with severe injuries. He was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way. Khan has been charged under the Arms Act and sections 126 (wrongful restraint), 351 (criminal intimidation) and 352 (intentional insult meant to provoke a breach of peace) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the report mentioned.

Police also said Khan has four previous cases against him – two for causing injuries, one for planning a dacoity, and one for bike theft in Bengaluru, IE reported. The Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Whitefield Division posted on X (formerly Twitter) saying, “Bengaluru City Police will not tolerate any acts of road rage or any behavior that disrupts public peace and law and order.

Strict and swift legal action will be taken against individuals involved in violent behavior, display of weapons, threats, or indecent conduct in public places”. He added, “Such incidents create fear and unrest among the general public. In order to ensure road safety and maintain public peace, Bengaluru City Police follow a zero-tolerance policy towards road rage.
