Bengaluru: Bengaluru health authorities are on high alert after a woman from Uganda was isolated over suspected Ebola symptoms shortly after arriving in the city. The 28 year old traveller reportedly complained of body pain and discomfort during routine screening, prompting officials to shift her to Epidemic Disease Hospital in Indiranagar for observation.
Doctors have sent her samples to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune, and officials say the final test results are still awaited. So far, no Ebola cases has been confirmed in Bengaluru or anywhere else in India.
The incident has sparked concern because parts of Uganda and neighbouring regions in Africa are currently dealing with fresh Ebola outbreaks. As a precaution, Karnataka’s health department has stepped up monitoring at Bengaluru airport and asked medical teams to remain prepared for any emergency situation.

Health experts say Ebola sperads through direct contact with infected bodily fluids and is not an airborne disease. Symptoms usually include fever, weakness, body pain, vomiting , and in severe cases, bleeding. Authorities have stressed that early isolation is a standard safety measure and does not automatically mean a person is infected.
Officials have also urged the public not to panic, saying all necessary protocols are being followed. The woman is reported to be stable and under close medical supervision while doctors wait for laboratory confirmation.
