Ram Temple Donation Row : Champat Rai’s Personal Driver Among Eight Held

Ayodhya : The eight people named as accused in the alleged cash embezzlement case linked to the Ram temple had different responsibilities inside the donation counting system. Among them, only Ram Shankar Yadav, also known as Tinnu, was not directly involved in counting the cash.

Tinnu, who serves as the personal driver of Champat Rai, the general secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, gradually rose to become a key administrator at the temple. He also handled VIP visits and kept the keys to the strong room where cash counting was conducted.

The temple trust had appointed retired banker Subhash Srivastava to oversee the cash counting process. He worked as a volunteer and supervised the staff hired by a private agency. After every counting session, the agency’s staff submitted the final cash tally to him.

The remaining six accused were employees of the private agency responsible for counting the donations collected from the temple’s hundis (donation boxes) and transporting the cash to the State Bank of India. In total, the agency had deployed around 40 counting agents for the task.

Among them, Anukalp Mishra was one of the senior counting agents and played a leading role in the counting process. He was reportedly considered close to some office-bearers of the temple trust. Sources claim that several young men were hired by the agency on the recommendation of senior trust members, and Anukalp was believed to be one of them.
