Abhijeet Dipke, CJP Team Taken To Undisclosed Location After Airport Detention

New Delhi : Following a face-off with police and a dramatic detention aboard their aircraft, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and co-convenors Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were taken onto a bus waiting on the tarmac and driven to an undisclosed location. The Cockroach Janta Party condemned the detention, which took place shortly after the trio’s flight landed in the national capital.

The party denounced the detentions as authoritarian, alleging that the police action was pre-planned to stop its leaders from reaching Jantar Mantar, the venue of the scheduled protest. The CJP accused the police of infringing on the leaders’ freedom of movement and demanded their immediate and unconditional release.

Dramatic scenes unfolded at Delhi’s IGI Airport moments after an Air India flight carrying Abhijeet Dipke and his team landed, with police personnel boarding the aircraft and approaching the group. Dipke, who had earlier stated that he was prepared for arrest upon arrival, stood his ground as the officers moved in. “I was prepared for arrest. Main kisi se darta nahin hoon (I’m not afraid of anybody),” he said.

“I have come here to be arrested; arrest me,” Dipke told the police personnel. However, the officers maintained that he was not being placed under arrest and urged him to cooperate. The Cockroach Janta Party founder and his team arrived in the national capital aboard an Air India flight at 10.17 am, amid mounting tensions ahead of their planned protest at Jantar Mantar.

Reacting to the detentions ahead of the planned demonstration, Dipke said the police had already detained several people and that he and his team would likely face the same treatment. “They’ve detained everybody, will detain us as well,” he said after landing in Delhi. Meanwhile, Ratna Singh, legal head of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), alleged that police personnel had visited her residence in the morning and were informed that she was not at home.
