Recently, artists from the Thakor community, including Vikram Thakor, were not invited in a felicitation ceremony which took place in the Legislative Assembly; this sparked a controversy, and the non-invitees expressed disappointment.
After this incident, more than 100 actors were invited to watch the proceedings of the House, including Vikram Thakor. Out of which, on Wednesday, only 15 actors attended the proceedings, whereas Vikram remained absent.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Rushikesh Patel, made a request to Vikram to attend the last day of the proceedings without any controversy. He added that the proceedings can be viewed from the audience row, and invited him to participate in the understanding of democracy.
He further stated that the Assembly speaker Shankar Chaudhary had stated that the invitation should be sent with the noble intention of understanding democracy.
Vikram Thakor’s absence raises speculation about his displeasure still remaining.
Regarding this matter, actor Hitu Kanodia said that the first invitation was sent to Vikram Thakor, but he did not send any confirmation whether he would be attending or not. The actors who are busy in shooting will not attend.
He added that an invitation has been sent to a lot of actors, but only those who have confirmed their attendance have their name on the list. Though Vikram Thakor has not sent any confirmation, he has been invited.
Other artists like Geeta Rabari, Kinjal Dave, Mayabhai Ahir, Rajbha Gadhvi, Kirtidan Gadhvi were also invited.
Expressing his displeasure, Vikram Thakor said that he felt bad because no one from his community was invited. He said that he would tell his community leaders to take note of this and ensure that it does not happen again in the future. Several people from the community called him on this issue. He claimed that the Thakor community is vast and supports every party, be it BJP or Congress.
He made a request to the government stating that he appreciates that they invite artists from other communities, but also wants them to acknowledge and invite artists from the Thakor community as well.
