Vibrant Gujarat Summit Likely Pushed to 2027 Amid Strategic Considerations

Ganshinadar: The Gujarat government is set to delay the 11th edition of the biennial Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit from January 2026 to January 2027, citing various strategic reasons. The postponement aligns with the state’s assembly election year, potentially boosting the ruling BJP’s prospects by showcasing the success of the summit.
Although a budget of Rs 175 crore was allocated for the summit in the 2025-26 fiscal year, insiders revealed that key decision-makers have nearly finalized the shift to 2027. In the interim, several regional mini summits will be held across different zones during the 2025-26 period, serving as a prelude to the main event next January. Additionally, promotional events in other states are planned to further attract global investors and industries to Gujarat.
Analysts suggest that the additional time will allow the state to focus on long-term economic policies and strategic planning, which could enhance the region’s appeal to international businesses. With local body elections scheduled later this year and the assembly polls looming in 2027, organizing the summit in the election year is seen as a politically advantageous move for the BJP.
The Vibrant Gujarat Summit, a biennial event first held in 2003, was suspended for five years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with its last edition conducted in January 2024.
