Vadodara: Accused Who Abducted And Raped Minor Girl Sentenced To Four Years’ Rigorous Imprisonment, Fined

The Accused Lured The Victim And Took Her To Maharashtra And Rajasthan

The case of the accused who abducted and raped a minor girl studying in ninth standard, was heard before the POCSO Special Court, in which the accused was found guilty and was sentenced to 4 years of rigorous imprisonment along with fine. Moreover, if the accused fails to pay the fine, he will be sentenced to another month of simple imprisonment and will be ordered to pay an additional amount as compensation to the victim under the Gujarat Victim Compensation Scheme.

The accused had lured the minor girl, who lived in the Navapura area, into marriage and abducted her; he took her to places like Maharashtra and Rajasthan, where he raped her. The girl lived with her family in Navapura and was one of the four children of the family. She studied in the ninth standard. Apparently, the girl went to the school in the morning and came back at 11:30 am. Due to suffering from jaundice, she had gone to the Khanderao market to buy sugarcane juice; however she did not return till night. She was not found even after checking.

After checking the surrounding areas, it was found that Yash Vilas Pawar, who lived nearby, had run away with the girl. Due to which, the guardian of the minor girl filed a complaint at the Navapura police station.
It was revealed during investigations that the accused had taken the girl to Maharashtra and Rajasthan. It was further revealed that he had raped the girl in the Udaipur Depot in Rajasthan.

Based on all the evidence and witnesses, arguments took place between the government prosecutor PC Patel and the defense lawyer. The case went to the court of Special Judge (POCSO) and Third Additional Sessions Judge. The court found the accused Yash Vilas Pawar guilty and sentenced him to 4 years of rigorous imprisonment accompanied with fine. He has also been ordered to pay an additional amount as compensation to the victim under the Gujarat Victim Compensation Scheme.
