Uncertainty Looms Over Ahmedabad-Baku Direct Flights As Azerbaijan Airlines Shows Unavailability
Passengers Get Email About Unavailability Of Flights

A few months back, Azerbaijan Airlines announced direct flights between Ahmedabad and Baku, which were set to operate from July 2025 onwards. To be precise, these flights were scheduled to be starting from July 4, operating 4 times a week. However, passengers now are receiving emails about the unavailability of the flights.
Apparently, emails from the Gmail handle of Azerbaijan Airlines state that “unfortunately there are no flights available”. As a result, uncertainties rise regarding the direct flights flying between Ahmedabad and Baku scheduled to start from the month of July.

On websites, there are no direct flights from Ahmedabad to Baku; bookings are available only from Delhi. On one hand, flights from Baku to Ahmedabad dated July 4 are showing, whereas on the other hand, flights from Ahmedabad to Baku dated July 9 are not visible, as it shows service errors.

Meanwhile, tour operators of Ahmedabad say that they have received an official letter stating them not to promote travel destinations like Azerbaijan and Turkey, and not to initiate bookings of clients for the same. They further say that people are avoiding going to these 2 places due to their support to Pakistan, and are switching to other destinations for travelling. Possibilities of direct flights to Azerbaijan and Turkey are bleak for the next 6 months, and tour operators are also likely to not organize bookings for these places. This move comes after these nations announced their support to Pakistan amid India-Pakistan tensions.
On April 25, Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) had announced that direct flights would operate between Ahmedabad and Baku from July 4 onwards. Schedule of the same was also announced. It was mentioned that Ahmedabad would be the airline’s third destination in India, after Delhi and Mumbai. Now, after the news about the unavailability of the flights, passengers who wish to visit these places are stranded.
