Two Young Workers Killed After Being Hit By Train In Rajkot: Youth Were Returning From Night Shift

Rajkot: Rajkot witnessed a tragic incident near the Dhunva railway crossing close to Korat Chowk, where two young men lost their lives after being struck by a train. The victims, identified as Sunil Makwana and Saurabh Solanki, were returning home on a scooter after completing their night shift at a metal factory.
Both men were residents of the Thorala area and worked as laborers. The accident occurred in the early hours of the morning. Tragically, the train collided with them at high speed, killing them on the spot.
Their bodies were discovered by locals the next morning, who immediately informed the authorities. Teams from the Aji Dam Police and Railway Police arrived at the scene, identified the victims, and sent their bodies for post-mortem examination. An official investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
In a separate incident in Bhavnagar’s Kumbharwada area, an elderly man suffered severe injuries after trying to cross a railway track despite the gate being closed. The man, identified as Maheshbhai Girijashankar Shukla, ignored the warnings and attempted to rush across the tracks.
Unfortunately, a train struck him before he could clear the crossing, resulting in critical injuries, including the amputation of one of his hands. Witnesses quickly called for help, and a 108 ambulance transported him to the hospital for emergency treatment.
Police from the Bortalav station have started an inquiry into the matter, urging citizens to strictly adhere to railway safety regulations to prevent such avoidable tragedies.
